Zakynthos (Zante) is the third largest of the Ionian Islands covering an area of 410 square kilometers and sporting an impressive coastline of 123 kilometers in length. Zakynthos has a thriving tourism industry and has become one of the top tourist destinations in Greece because of its beautiful long sandy beaches and crystalline waters. It attracts thousands of visitors each year as well as the endangered specie of the sea turtle Caretta-Caretta which comes to the island to lay its eggs in the soft golden beaches.
